Ride with us on some of Lumpkin County’s most beautiful roads! We will spend the day in the hilly Dahlonega and Lumpkin County area, cycling on country lanes and visiting three to five wineries. Lumpkin County is known for its spicy reds and great white wines and we will bring you to our favorite wineries. Northeast Georgia vineyards are exploding with vitis vinifera varital; a special class of European grapes grown for crafting fine quality wines. Over the course of the day we will ride 15-80 miles on relatively hilly roads, and have a gourmet picnic lunch at one of our winery stops. As part of your day tour we will visit some extraordinary wineries while riding along cool creeks and quiet country lanes that are sure to make your tour a memorable experience.
The Northeast Georgia wine country is blessed with an average high temperature 75 - 85 degrees Spring through Fall with a constant cool breeze which makes this the perfect place for an outdoor adventure. Lots of sunshine, bright blue skies, reasonable humidity and cool calm nights. The microclimate in the Northeast Georgia Mountains is ideal for growing Vinifera grapes, and the altitude is high enough to prevent the spread of some deadly diseases. The steep red-clay hillsides of North Georgia mirror the "Terra Rosa" (meaning red earth) soils of some of Europe's most famous wine-growing areas.
